"We Rise, We Lead, We Impact!" — ICT Boot Camp Participants Arrive for Orientation at King's Kids, Enugu

Fifteen students from outside Enugu settle into camp as the 2026 Summer ICT Boot Camp officially begins

ENUGU, NIGERIA — The energy was unmistakable on the afternoon of August 10, 2026, as fifteen participants of the 2026 Summer ICT Boot Camp arrived at King's Kids Comprehensive Secondary School at about 2:30 PM, ready to begin five weeks that could reshape their futures.

A Warm Welcome

Traveling from outside Enugu, the students were accompanied by their coordinator, Mr. Phil Ukaegbu, and assembled in the school hall for orientation led by If I Were XYZ, Inc. Country Representative Charity Ani.

Mrs. Ani welcomed the participants and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity before them. She thanked the Board of Directors of If I Were XYZ, Inc. for their generosity in making the program possible, and specifically recognized Mr. Phil Ukaegbu, the Ifiwerexyz Peace Club coordinator, for his patience and effort in bringing the students together for this journey.

She closed the orientation with a clear charge: to carry themselves with discipline and their best behavior throughout the camp and training center — a reminder that this opportunity comes with responsibility.

A Chant That Says It All

As orientation drew to a close, the participants rose together and chanted the Ifiwerexyz Peace Club motto, filling the hall with a declaration of purpose:

Ifiwerexyz,
We rise,
We lead,
We impact!

It was more than a chant. It was a statement of intent from a room full of young people who understand exactly what's at stake — and exactly what they're capable of.

The Road Ahead

These fifteen students, camping at King's Kids Comprehensive Secondary School for the duration of the program, will now join their Enugu-based peers for five weeks of hands-on training in Basic Computer Application, Graphic Design, and Web Development — skills designed to open doors long after the camp ends.

King's Kids Comprehensive Secondary School's role goes beyond hosting; as a program partner, the school provided accommodation facilities at a subsidized rate, an act of in-kind generosity that made it possible for students traveling from outside Enugu to participate at all.

A new dawn is here. As the chant echoed through the hall, one truth was clear: Africa's next generation of great leaders is being formed — one training session, one skill, one determined young person at a time.

And this is only the start. Executive Director Engr. Cornelius Ani has signaled plans to expand the boot camp to more students on a quarterly or annual basis as funding allows, with a replication of the program already underway in Kenya. The 15 students who arrived at King's Kids this week are the first of what organizers hope will be a growing, recurring cohort across Africa.

How You Can Help Carry Them Forward

Moments like this arrival are made possible by people who choose to invest in young people they may never meet. As these 21 participants begin five weeks of intensive training, your support can help meet real, immediate needs:

Ways to Support the Journey

  • Cash donations — help cover feeding, transportation, and facilitator costs for the full five weeks
  • In-kind donations — laptops, bedding, toiletries, and other essentials for participants camping away from home
  • Partnership support — schools, businesses, or individuals willing to sponsor a participant's full camp experience

Every gift — cash or in-kind — helps make sure that "We rise, we lead, we impact" isn't just a chant, but a promise this program can keep.
