ENUGU, NIGERIA — Day 3 of the 2026 ICT Summer Boot Camp at CIDJAP was, in the words of those on the ground, tense and tasking — and it's only getting hotter as the days roll by, in more ways than one. General activities started at 10:15 AM on August 13th, with all three tracks pushing further into real, applied skills.
Basics: From Tables to Excel
Students in Computer Basics were taught how to set tables and prepare forms using Microsoft. To put the lesson to the test, they were handed forms on hard copy and asked to duplicate exactly what they saw onto the systems in front of them — a hands-on check on how well the concepts had landed. After the appraisal, facilitators gave a brief introduction to Excel: what it is, and what it can be used for, setting the stage for deeper spreadsheet work ahead.
Graphic Design: Visible, Rapid Improvement
The Graphic Design track completed four classwork projects centered on visual photos. What stood out most wasn't just the volume of work — it was the pace of growth. Their facilitator gave the students huge kudos, noting that their improvement was clearly visible day over day, a strong sign for a track that started with just the basics of elements and principles two days ago.
Web Development: Structuring Data with Tables
Web Development students were the earliest to start, beginning as early as 9:00 AM with a review of the previous day's lesson. From there, they moved into how table tags are used to display data in rows and columns — a core web design skill. Classwork was assigned on Table 1, while Tables 2 and 3 were given as homework to complete before the next session.
Wrapping Up
Classes came to an end at 3:40 PM, closing out another full day of instruction, practice, and — for the Graphic Design cohort especially — visible growth.
Ways to Support the Boot Camp
- Cash donations — fund facilitator stipends, feeding, transportation, and training materials
- In-kind donations — laptops, computer accessories, software licenses, or printed training materials
- Volunteer facilitators — professionals in IT, design, or web development willing to guest-teach or mentor
Three days in, the progress is already visible — in duplicated forms, in table tags, and in graphic design projects that impress even the facilitators. Your support keeps that momentum going for the four weeks still ahead.
